MEMORY

Computer memory refers to devices that are used to store data or programs on a temporary or permanent basis for use in computers.

Memory is mainly of two types:

Primary / Semiconductor / Internal Memory

It refers to the semiconductor technology used to store information in electronic devices. They are mainly of two types

1. Volatile memory (RAM)

2 Non-volatile memory (ROM, PROM, EPROM, EEPROM)

Random Access Memory (RAM)

Stores data for immediate manipulation in the computer and tracks the process currently taking place.

The two main types of RAM are Static RAM and Dynamic RAMI

SRAM retains data as long as power is applied to the memory chip and does not need to be periodically refreshed.

Data in DRAM moves in and out of memory as long as power is applied and must be constantly refreshed to maintain data.

Read Only Memory (ROM)

Rom is non-volatile and can retain contents even after power is switched off. It only allows reading. different types of ROM are PROM, and EEPROM!

Cache memory:

It is a temporary storage area, where accessed data can be stored for quick access.Secondary or auxiliary memory

Main memory is volatile and has limited capacity, so there is a need to store data more permanently and cheaply. This type of storage is known as secondary memory.

Examples of secondary memory are hard drives and floppy disks, optical disks such as CDs and CDROMs.

Virtual memory

Virtual memory is hard disk memory, which the CPU uses as an extended RAM.

Some important information

The process of copying software from secondary storage media to a hard disk is called escalation.

CD RW is the abbreviation for reusable optical storageDuring data processing, programs and processed data are temporarily stored in RAM.

Storage and memory differ greatly in terms of price, reliability, and speed.

A digital versatile disc is an example of an optical disc.
